Audition clothing is not a fashion contest. The goal is to help the casting team see your face, movement and performance clearly.
Start with the brief If the project requests a specific color or clothing type, follow the instruction when it is clear and reasonable.
Keep it simple Avoid oversized logos, distracting patterns and noisy accessories. Clean, comfortable clothing that fits the tone of the role is usually more useful than a full costume.
Do not over-costume If the role is a doctor, for example, you usually do not need a complete medical costume unless requested. A subtle visual cue is often enough.
Think about movement and framing Wear something that lets you move naturally, especially for physical scenes or self-tapes. See our mobile self-tape guide.
Bottom line Choose clothing that keeps you clear, comfortable and visually close to the role without stealing attention from the performance.
