A showreel is a short video that collects examples of your acting on camera. Its purpose is not to show every project you have done; it gives a casting team a quick sense of your presence and performance.
What should it include?
Use your strongest clips where your acting is easy to see and hear. If you can show different kinds of performance, add variety without making the reel unnecessarily long.
Lead with your strongest material
Avoid a long logo sequence or dramatic montage before the acting begins. The viewer wants to see your performance quickly.
Keep audio and image clear
A strong scene with poor sound can weaken the impression. Make sure dialogue is audible and facial expressions are visible.
Do beginners need a showreel?
You do not need a long list of professional credits. A cleanly recorded short scene or a strong self-tape can be a useful starting point until you build stronger work.
Update it as you improve
When you get better footage, replace weaker older clips. Your showreel should represent your current level rather than your full history.
