How to Review Talent Applications More Efficiently

A practical approach for publishers to review profiles, compare requirements, use chat and reduce guesswork in casting decisions.

As applicant volume grows, a consistent review method becomes more useful than opening profiles in a random order.

1. Start with the hard requirements

Before being influenced by a strong image or portfolio, confirm that the talent meets essential criteria such as location, availability, category or any non-negotiable requirements.

2. Review the whole profile

A photo can attract attention, but a better decision uses the full profile: skills, experience, languages, video and previous work where available.

3. Compare candidates using the same criteria

Choose three to five project-specific criteria and apply them consistently. This reduces purely subjective decisions and helps teams explain why someone was shortlisted.

4. Use chat for information the profile cannot answer

If the talent looks promising but a key detail is missing, ask a focused question rather than rejecting them immediately.

5. Keep preliminary selection separate from final confirmation

In Quick Requests, details can be discussed before a preliminary selection and mutual final confirmation. Make the stage clear so the candidate does not assume the agreement is final too early.
