In everyday use the terms can overlap, but there is a useful distinction.
Casting Call A casting call is an announcement or invitation seeking talent for a project or role. It usually includes requirements, submission instructions and timing.
Audition An audition is the actual performance evaluation stage, where talent may be asked to perform a scene or submit material for assessment.
How they connect The process often starts with a casting call, after which selected applicants move to an audition or another evaluation step.
In commercial projects Some projects select directly from profiles, photos or video without a separate audition, depending on the job.
