Casting acceptance and rejection decision workflow

Acceptance and rejection are part of the casting experience. Clear communication within a reasonable time protects the project experience and reduces repeated follow-ups.

Do not leave applicants in an unclear state Once a decision is known, update the status instead of keeping everyone waiting unnecessarily.

Make acceptance actionable After selection, state the next step: call, callback, shoot date, documents or additional material.

Rejection does not need a long explanation A short respectful note is enough: another profile was closer to this project’s requirements. Avoid unnecessary personal criticism.

Separate rejection from personal judgment A strong talent can still be the wrong fit for a specific role. That distinction matters.

Structure the decision first Build a shortlist before final decisions. See our talent shortlist guide.

Bottom line Professional communication needs clarity, a clear next step and respect for both sides’ time.
